Morning! Wanted to share three quick things with all of you.

Decaffeinated

I did not quit coffee our right. No sir. I would miss the taste and the ritual of it all way to much. What I did do was to switch to decaffeinated coffee. I found that I might be a slow caffeine metabolizer. On a day where I had a strong cup of coffee or two or three average one’s I could distinctly feel the levels of anxiety creep up on me.

I have no been off the caff for about two weeks, and it is making a real difference. I can still enjoy the taste and ritual of it all, but no more jitters.

Normal speed please

The other kinda random change I made was to switch all my podcast episodes the 1x. I know, I know, that is so uncool 😁 While some folks do 2x or even 3x, I had most of mine on about 1.3–1.4x. My wife commented that it made her agitated when I listened to a podcast without headphones. That got me to thinking.

I listen to quite a few podcast episodes a day. Could it be having an affect on me subconsciously? I made to change and it does feel like it made a difference. Really hard to say as this is a scientific study of one, or perhaps two people without a control really. I do actually find that I prefer it this way and that I retain more of the knowledge. Have any of you experimented with this? Would be really interesting to know.

The third item is a quote from the book Courage is Calling, again 😁

“What fear does is deprive you of power by making you think you don’t have any. If you don’t believe you can do something, it’s not only unlikely that you can do it, it’s guaranteed that you won’t even try.” (from “Courage Is Calling: Fortune Favours the Brave” by Ryan Holiday)

Until next time. Stay safe everyone.
