Thank you for your post. I had an additional step I needed to take. At one point I installed mongodb-community and so, I also had to do brew uninstall mongodb-community --force

Running ls -al /usr/local/bin/mong* now results in ls: /usr/local/bin/mong*: No such file or directory ~ \o/
